The same kind of room, back in use

A finished kitchen is the easiest thing in the world to photograph and the hardest thing to sequence. The units can't go in until the floor is down, the floor can't go down until the plaster is dry, the plaster can't go on until first fix is signed off, and first fix can't happen until somebody has decided where the hob is.

When the electrician, the plumber, the joiner, the plasterer and the tiler are all the same company, that chain runs without gaps. Nobody is waiting on somebody else's diary, and nobody arrives to find the previous trade has made their job impossible.

The details that make a kitchen feel finished are small and cumulative: the light over the worktop rather than behind you, the boiler boxed in, the skirting scribed to a floor that isn't level, the silicone lines run clean.
