Rewires, consumer units and a lighting plan made before the plaster goes on
The best time to decide where a light, a socket or a switch goes is while the walls are open and a cable costs nothing to move. The worst time is after decoration. Yet on most renovations nobody has the lighting conversation until the ceiling is already boarded.
As part of a renovation we set out the electrical layout room by room at first fix — task lighting over the worktop, a switch on the side of the door you actually walk in on, sockets where the furniture will really stand. Then it's installed, tested and certified, and the plaster goes on over something you'll still be happy with in five years.
Rewires and first fix
Full or partial rewires while the walls are open, consumer unit replacement, new circuits, and cabling set out to a plan you've seen and agreed. All work carried out to current wiring regulations and certified on completion.
Lighting design
Layered lighting rather than one pendant in the middle of a ceiling: downlights and task light where the work happens, softer sources for the evening, and switching and dimming arranged so a room has more than one setting. Planned before boarding, not after.
Second fix and finish
Accessories fitted, fittings hung, everything tested, labelled and demonstrated to you before we go — including which switch does what, written down.
