Plastering & Rendering
The finish that every other trade gets judged by
A plasterer is the last person to touch a wall before the decorator, which means they inherit everybody else's mistakes and get the blame for all of them. Good plastering starts with backgrounds that were set out properly in the first place — which is easier when the same company put them there.
Inside we skim, float and set, dry-line and patch; outside we render. Rendering is the house's coat: get the mix, the beads and the movement joints right and it sheds Cheshire weather for decades. Get them wrong and it cracks, blows and lets water into the wall behind it.
Inside — skimming and setting
Skim over plasterboard, float and set onto brick and block, dot-and-dab dry lining, and patch repairs where walls have been chased or steels encased. Flat, true, sharp arrises and clean junctions at ceilings and reveals.
Outside — render
Traditional sand-and-cement render and modern through-coloured and silicone systems, with proper beading, stop beads and movement joints. On older solid-wall properties we'll talk to you about breathability before specifying anything, because sealing a solid wall in the wrong material causes damp rather than curing it.
Repairs and patching
Blown plaster hacked off and made good, cracked render cut out and rebuilt, damaged reveals and arrises re-formed. On a part renovation this is often most of the plastering work, and it needs matching in more than just colour.
